Fishing

Personally I think fishing needs a little more flavor...

I've been fishing for about 5-6 days now (for probably around 6-8 hrs a day atleast). The loot is very boring and useless kind of.

This is what I was able to catch: Acquarium fish (many different kinds), fish bones, rope, special fishing net, anchor, exotic fishing poles, corrals, fish and well that's pretty much it.

What I would like to be able to catch is something of more use such as Message in the Bottle, Treasure Maps, even regs would be nice. All of the items that are available now are nice but all that acquarium fish is kind of useless in the amount that I can collect per trip out in the sea, the fish bones, anchor, corral, etc.. are all cool things but maybe make less of them and add a few new things?

I will not stop fishing until I pull out at least 1 drift wood piece :D btw if my chances at 100 fishing of catching drift wood are about 1%, what would my chances be if I was at 120? jw

Slickblade, what fishing pole are you using to fish with? Based on your list of things fished up, I believe you are not using a regular fishing pole, but one from the exotic fishing system. Try fishing with a plain old regular fishing pole, as it fishes up different things (including creatures that have SOS and MIBs) than does the one from the exotic system.

See you on the shard,

Hmm.. so the exotic fishing pole doesn't catch those items but they are there, cool :)

Will the exotic fishing pole increase my chances of pulling out drift wood? or will I have the same chance with a regular fishing pole?

I don't believe the exotic pole will pull up any driftwood. You must be using a regular pole.

There are two completely different sets of things that can be pulled up depending on which pole you fish with. The normal items that can be pulled up with the normal fishing pole (among them normal fish, big fish, driftwood, white pearls, sea serpents), and the exotic items which you have already seen with your exotic pole. One pole will not fish up items from the other group.

Go get or make a normal fishing pole and go fishing - see what you get. ;)

Heh so today I went out fishing again and now for some reason my exotic fishing pole pulls out everything.. :) including drift wood.. Was there a change to fishing or a glitch?

There have been no changes to fishing in the last 30 days. I see no glitch here, only the random chance to fish up an item.

Now its back to normal.. what happened is I was using the exotic pole from my backpack for like 5-6 days and was pulling out only rare fish, fish bones, fish, and deco items. Today I put the exotic fishing pole in the chars hands and started fishing, about 10 min into it I pulled out 3 drift wood pieces, sea serpent, few pairs of boots and shoes, fish, etc..

So does holding the pole compared to having it in your backpack make any difference?

Guess this fishing scripts is very very complicated :)
