non-deco items on gold stone

I propose there be more non-deco items for purchase with gold either on the gold stone or otherwise.

It seems that other than the checkbook and the pads of the Cu Sidhe, the gold stone doesn't have any items that aren't just for deco. Being that everyone is in a rush for tokens, it seems my gold is worthless to them, it just keeps piling up, and I have nothing to spend it on. Moving things from the token stone has some disadvantages I'm aware of so the only thing I can think of that would be fair is to add new items. Chvayre I'm sure will love this. lol

Second idea: Player basements.
Would need to make an addon that looked like a small cave. Just need to stand in center of players house and go -20 Z. Being that the X and Y coords would remain the same as the house, the player would still be able to lockdown and secure items in it. (not really deco as it has function)

Other ideas:

• a picky beetle
• ticket to drop any skill to 0
• idk, ideas?

Here is an idea to solve the need for tokens. Most players seem to be selling things for only tokens, which makes cash kinda useless. The solution to the problem would be to place a stone somewhere (Donation Hall, Brit Bank, etc.) that allows players to trade in gold for tokens. I think the current rates are:

1 token = 7-10 gold

Make it to where you trade in 10g for 1 token. That way players will be able to get rid of some of there excess cash, and would also make cash worth something. Let me know what you think.

I think that was avoided so the value of tokens could change with the economy of the shard.
But, if the price ratio on the stone was notably higher than what you would expect to find in the player base this could work. It's kind of hard to say because you never know how high or low the value of tokens will get and changing the ratio on the stone later could cause issues. Only staff could say.

Another idea if my previous idea doesn't fall through, is to change the casino a bit. Allow players to gamble with their gold for items or tokens instead of just more gold.

Maybe we can get some staff input on this in the next day or so? :p

You are right about the fact that the prices changing, but with a small community like this it shouldn't be too hard to keep up with the prices. They could just make the tokens on the stone about 5 gold or so higher than the current price. This could still cause the price of tokens to never change, so the staff will have to decide about it like you said.

Ok. So, I've read your posts and totally understand your complaints. We have been tossing around some ideas for the gold stone but, you will have to be patient.

Now, as far as the trading gold for tokens, we will not be doing that. I apologize if this sounds harsh but, we want the players to create an economy and if we place a vendor that trades gold for tokens then, we are determining the price of the tokens and therefore, creating the economy ourselves.

I will work on getting more items to be placed on the gold stone that are non deco however, I have other projects in the works and I will add them as I have the time.

If you, as the players, feel that gold is too abundant on the shard we can change that just let us know.

Thanks for the response Storm. I completely understand why you can't put up a token stone. As for gold, I don't think that it's too abundant, since I'm always in need of it to buy stuff for my house. However, when I try to purchase an expensive item from a player (like crusader gear) they seem to only accept tokens. The only way to get rid of gold is to spend it on the gold stone, NPCs, and player vendors. The players selling the items themselves without a vendor seem to only accept tokens. Thats just my opinion.

I also do not think that gold is "too abundant" as it's taken me a while to get what I have. For a while all my gold went toward skill gain items and the like, but I'm done with most of those. There just doesn't seem to be anything to spend your gold on(other than deco) once you've managed to get some and don't need it for as many other things. I'm kind of repeating what has already been said, but I guess it boils down to that even though tokens are economy based there is a bit of an unbalance.


I'm anxious to see what goodies will be added.

Thank you for responding Storm, you are spot on with all your comments.

Smellz, you were not around when the shard first started, but at one time the Lady Luck Lottery vendor also traded gold for tokens. This had the effect of setting the market for the tokens and this was a bad thing for the economy as a whole. That feature was removed so that the players themselves could dictate what the tokens were worth, thereby influencing the economy of the shard themselves, rather than having an artificial price point set.

As far as new additions, please keep in mind that these these things take time, as we are a small volunteer staff with RL commitments. We get new things done and implemented, but they take time (and we are constantly working on new things). Additionally, many times there are things being worked on "under the hood" to tweak or improve those things we already have, and these tweaks take priority.

We do appreciate the suggestions though, so please keep them coming.

Ok I got a new idea. I've been spending a lot of time with my yard wand lately and I came up with some ideas. How about something that allows you to lock stuff down within 10 spaces of your house (the max size your yard can be). It would of course count towards the maxium amount of lockdowns you can have in your house. Not sure if thats possible but just thought i would suggest it.

First I want to thank the staff for giving us all the new items! They are great!

Next I would like to suggest some. Fist, maybe add the podium and elven podium to the carpentry menu? Second, it would be cool if the elven loveseats were added to the gold stone. Hope you consider my suggestions.
